The beginning of a new week often brings tasks, decisions, and unfinished conversations. We may look at the calendar with enthusiasm, weariness, or concern. This prayer to start the week offers a quiet moment to give thanks for new time and entrust each responsibility to God without pretending that every difficulty will disappear.
Prayer does not replace planning, effort, or rest. It helps us recognize what we can do, what we should share with others, and what we need to place in God's hands.
Prayer to Start the Week
Lord God,
thank you for this new week and for another opportunity to begin. I receive these days as a gift and place them before you, including what I already know and everything I cannot yet foresee.
Accompany me in my work, studies, care for my family, and ordinary responsibilities. Give me clarity to distinguish what is important from what only appears urgent, perseverance to honor my commitments, and humility to ask for help when I need it.
Guard my words so they do not wound others. Teach me to listen before answering, correct my mistakes, and treat people with respect when we disagree. When plans change, grant me patience to seek a solution without feeding fear or constant complaint.
I bring before you the people I will meet this week. Bless those who work, those seeking employment, those who study, those who provide care, and those who are ill. Make me attentive to their needs and generous with my time.
Lord, do not let good results make me proud or mistakes take away my hope. Remind me that my worth does not depend on completing a perfect list. Help me live with love, honesty, and responsibility.
Guide my decisions. At the end of this week, may I recognize your presence in small acts of kindness, in help received, and in whatever good I was able to share.
Amen.
Short Monday Prayer
Good Father, I place this week before you. Order my thoughts, strengthen my hands, and make my words peaceful. Help me complete today's work with love without carrying all of tomorrow's problems at once. Amen.
Add One Practical Intention
After praying, review the coming week for a few minutes. Choose three realistic priorities and leave room for rest, family, and prayer. If one task feels too large, divide it into a first step you can complete today.
You can also write down the name of one person to pray for each day. This simple practice keeps prayer from focusing only on our own concerns and makes us more attentive to the people around us.
To begin each day with gratitude, use this morning prayer to thank God. When you face a particularly important choice, you may also pray this prayer for a life-changing decision.
Prayer at the End of the Day
Lord, thank you for everything I experienced today. I give you what went well, what remains unfinished, and whatever I need to repair. Grant me rest so I can recover my strength and wisdom to continue tomorrow. Keep me from being controlled by haste, and help me recognize your peace amid my responsibilities. Amen.
You can return to this prayer each Monday or adapt it to your circumstances. The purpose is not to say every word perfectly, but to enter the week with a sincere willingness to trust, serve, and act responsibly.
