Meaning of Psalm 35
Psalm 35 is a lament and plea for God's help in persecution and suffering. The psalmist asks God to defend the innocent, restrain false witnesses, and bring justice without surrendering to hatred.

Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and defense; rise to my help. Say to my soul: I am your salvation.
Those who seek my life have set traps without cause and return evil for good. Yet when they were sick, I humbled myself and prayed for them as for a friend or brother.
Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue me from terror and defend the poor and needy from those who exploit them.
You have seen this, Lord; do not be silent. Rise for my defense and judge me according to your justice.
May those who seek my good rejoice and say always: Great is the Lord, who delights in the peace of his servant. Then my tongue will proclaim your justice and praise all day long.
