Prayer for a Sick Person
Lord Jesus, the one you love is sick.
You can do all things. I humbly ask you to restore this person's health.
But if your plans are different, grant them the grace to bear illness with Christian faith.
Along the roads of Palestine, you treated the sick with such tenderness that everyone came to you. Give me that same gentleness and sensitivity, which can be so difficult to maintain when one is healthy.
Help me control my impatience so that I do not burden this person. Teach me to set aside some of my responsibilities so I can remain beside them, if that is what they desire.
I am full of life, Lord, and I thank you for it. Let the suffering of others make me holy by forming me in selflessness and charity.

Praying for someone who is ill entrusts that person to God's care and asks for strength for the patient, family, and caregivers. Healing may include physical relief, inner peace, reconciliation, or courage during difficult treatment; prayer cannot promise a particular cure.
Name the person respectfully and, when visiting, ask what is needed before offering advice. Continue medical care and seek urgent assistance for serious symptoms. Remember health professionals and caregivers, especially when exhaustion becomes severe.
