Prayer to Saint Martin de Porres
Saint Martin de Porres was born in Lima, Peru, in 1579. He became a Dominican brother and was known for prayer, humility, care for people who were poor or ill, and compassion that crossed the social divisions of his time. Pope John XXIII canonized him in 1962.
Christians ask Saint Martin to intercede in times of need and to help them grow in charity. His example reminds us that prayer for a miracle should never become passive waiting: faith also calls us to serve, seek proper care, defend human dignity, and share what we have.
Prayer
Saint Martin de Porres, humble servant of God and friend of those who suffered, pray for me in this time of need.
Present this intention to the Lord: [mention your request]. Ask that I receive healing, strength, or guidance according to God's wisdom. Help me trust without demanding a particular outcome and persevere without losing hope.
Teach me to notice people who are poor, ill, excluded, or forgotten. Free me from prejudice and indifference. Give me patience in service, gentleness in conflict, and courage to defend the dignity of every person.
Pray for my family and for all who care for the sick. Bless doctors, nurses, caregivers, volunteers, and everyone whose daily work brings relief to others.
May I follow your example by joining prayer to practical charity. Lead me always to Jesus Christ, source of mercy and peace. Amen.
Turning prayer into service
After praying, choose one action inspired by Saint Martin's life: contact someone who is lonely, help a family in need, support a charitable organization, challenge discrimination, or offer patient care at home. If your petition concerns illness, continue seeking appropriate medical care while you pray.
