Prayer of Thanks for the Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ,
I want to thank you because you embraced our “condition of slaves” (Phil 2:7),
took our death upon yourself,
and shared with us your own Spirit of life.
“The Spirit of the Lord rested upon you: a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and strength, a spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord” (Is 11:1-2). Before returning to the Father, you left us this Spirit as the greatest Gift among all gifts.
You valued this gift so greatly that you said: “It is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you” (Jn 16:7).
Giving thanks to the Holy Spirit
Thanking the Holy Spirit means recognizing God's presence in faith, consolation, wisdom, and the ability to love. Gratitude does not require treating every emotion as a divine sign. It also recognizes ordinary ways help arrives: community, reason, work, and the care of other people.
After praying, name one concrete reason for gratitude and turn it into service. Ask for light to recognize your mistakes and courage to correct them.
