A prayer based on Ephesians 6:10-18 to put on the armor of God through truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, Scripture, and prayer.

Spiritual Armor of God Prayer

The armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18 is a biblical image for remaining faithful amid temptation, fear, and spiritual struggle. Each part describes a gift to receive and a way of life to practice.

The Armor of God

  • The belt of truth helps us reject deception and live honestly.
  • The breastplate of righteousness calls us to choose what is right and treat others with love.
  • The shoes of the gospel of peace prepare us to carry reconciliation wherever we go.
  • The shield of faith teaches us to trust God when fear and doubt arise.
  • The helmet of salvation reminds us that our hope rests in God's saving grace.
  • The sword of the Spirit, God's Word, helps us know God's character and discern his will.
  • Prayer in the Spirit keeps us attentive to God and united with others.

Prayer to Put On the Armor of God

Lord God, strengthen me in you and in your mighty power. Fasten truth around me so that I may recognize and reject every lie. Cover my heart with righteousness and help me choose what is good.

Make me ready to bring peace through my words and actions. Raise the shield of faith when fear, accusation, or discouragement comes. Guard my mind with the hope of salvation. Place your Word in my heart so that it may guide my decisions.

Teach me to pray at all times, not only for myself but for everyone in need. Keep me watchful, humble, and faithful today. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Putting on God's armor is not a magical formula. It means depending on grace while practicing truth, justice, peace, faith, hope, Scripture, and persevering prayer in daily life.
